Carrickfergus Blue Plaque

An Ulster History Circle Blue Plaque has been placed in Danny's honour on the
Cambridge family building at 31 High Street, Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim, Ulster.

The plaque was unveiled by brothers David and Andrew Cambridge, and Peter Howell, on 6th December, 2007.

Many attempts had been made by researchers to locate Danny's actual place of birth in his home town of Carrickfergus, but to no avail. The building at 31 High Street has been in the Cambridge family since at least the late 1700's or early 1800's, certainly before Danny's birth in 1820, and it is a most fitting place for the Ulster History Circle to have placed the plaque.

Unfortunately the plaque has Danny erroneously as a Yeoman Warder, and not a Yeoman of the Guard. Yeomen Warders are the gaolers at the Tower of London, who also guard The Crown Jewels. Yeomen Warder are often mistaken for Yeomen of the Guard, each a distinctly different Corps.

Hopefully, in the fullness of time, the plaque's error will be corrected.
